Let Dentures Give You Back Your Self-Confidence

Are you fully edentulous? That means that you have lost all of your teeth, or needed them pulled. If so, your quality of life has probably changed significantly. Without teeth it can be too embarrassing to smile, and your diet is restricted to soft, mashed, or pureed foods. When your diet is limited, it becomes difficult to meet your body's nutritional requirements and your health can begin to decline. That's not to mention, that your speech may be hampered, and your lips and cheeks can begin to "cave in," giving you an aged look. However, you can rid yourself of all of these problems by letting dentures give you back your self-confidence.

Full Dentures

If you are missing all of your top and/or bottom teeth you will require full dentures. Full dentures replace all of your missing teeth in a single arch (upper or lower arch). Dentures consist of a pink plastic base that is custom-fit to your gums, and to which pontics, or false teeth, are attached. The denture is held in place with natural suction, and denture adhesive. Traditional dentures are usually removed at night, but you can also choose to have implant-supported dentures.

Partial Dentures

If you are not missing all of your teeth but are missing several teeth throughout your mouth that are not adjacent to one another, you may benefit from a partial denture. Partial dentures are designed to replace missing teeth around your natural teeth that are still remaining. Partial dentures are fabricated with the same materials as full dentures but are usually held in place with clasps. The clasps can be designed with metal or plastic, and wrap around and/or rest on a few of your remaining natural teeth. Partial dentures are also removable which makes it easy for you to clean them, and brush your natural teeth.
