Looking For Something To Do?

At Hutto Dentistry, dentistry may be our passion but we have other interests, too. In fact, we enjoy getting involved in our community, and enjoy all it has to give. We like to encourage our patients to do the same, by getting involved in, or simply enjoying, the many sites and activities the community has to offer. If you're looking for something to do indoors with your family to escape the summer heat, check out the Louisiana Arts & Science Museum.

The Louisiana Arts & Science Museum

Located on the banks of the Mississippi River and housed in an old railroad depot, the Louisiana Arts & Science Museum has a little something for everyone, children and adults. Your children will love the interactive art and science galleries designed just for them and featuring educational displays about their world, the Ancient Egypt Gallery which houses ancient artifacts and a Ptolemaic-era mummy, and the Irene W. Pennington Planetarium.

For adults, the art galleries offer a permanent collection of fine art, as well as changing exhibits. Art collection highlights include:

  • American art
  • European art
  • Ethnographic art
  • Modern and contemporary art of Louisiana
  • Photography
  • Antiquities

But don't leave without checking out the Museum Store located in the Art & Science Museum. There you and the family can complete your visit by perusing the toys, books, unique handcrafted merchandise, and the large variety of exhibit-related objects. You may even decide to purchase a few to commemorate your visit.

A member of the Association of Science and Technology Centers, and accredited by the American Alliance of Museums, the museum also serves the community via workshops, classes, camps, lectures, teacher in-services, and more.

Check it out by visiting 100 River Road South in downtown Baton Rouge.
