Study Finds Wine May Fight Sore Throats and Dental Plaque

The beneficial properties of wine have long been known – especially red wine to the heart and cardiovascular system. But did you know that both white and red wine can help combat germs that cause sore throats and dental plaque? A study published in the journal of agriculture and food chemistry found that chemicals found in wine kill 99.9 percent of dental bacteria and germs that contribute to dental plaque and sore throats.

Of course, as with most things, this is in moderation. Wine is acidic so too much can cause enamel erosion as well as staining if drinking red wine. So, this holiday season enjoy a glass and help fight germs at the same time.
